Mr. Roland Martin Warfield, 92, of Frederick, died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Northampton Manor Health Care in Frederick after a brief illness. Born September 17, 1922 near Ijamsville, he was the son of the late Charles Carroll “Pete” Warfield and Helen Martin Warfield. He was the husband of Dorothy Purdum Warfield, his wife of 67 years.In earlier years he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) which existed from 1933-1942. He formerly owned and operated Warfield’s General Store of New Market for 20 years. He was then employed as a deliveryman for Ebert’s which became Green’s Dairy of York, PA. Following retirement he worked in the custodial department at Linganore High School, then at Weis Market in Mt. Airy. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his family. Mr. Warfield was an active member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon and a church trustee.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26 at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Glissans Mill Rd. with Rev. Greg Quintrell, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown 3-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 25 and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
